White Roofs
A white, or “cool”, roof features light-colored finishes to reflect sunlight and improve overall building efficiency. A white roof also improves occupant comfort and helps keep air conditioning costs in check. A variety of different materials can be used to create a white roof. Many manufacturers add reflective coatings to traditional roofing materials to meet growing demand. Others offer special paints or coatings, which can be applied over an existing roof structure to meet energy efficiency goals or local laws.
